The Leaping Cat (飛ぶ猫)

   "Ah! It's too late!"
   While driving on the highway, a white cat suddenly leapt out in front of Kida's car.
   In that instant there was no way he could avoid it and it disappeared under the hood of his car.
   But he never felt the impact.
   (Did it somehow manage to avoid the car?)
   He looked into his back mirror but the cat wasn't behind the car.
   Just to be sure, he stopped at the next parking area and checked around his car.
   He found a dent where he had hit the cat and a splotch of blood on the front bumper.

   When he got home and opened the door, a white cat was lying on his floor, dead.
